There was a bug in the output directory name generation, but that was fixed in v1.2. So, if anyone is interested then I have put together a quick website for PIPP that can be found here: I may come to regret saying this, but I think PIPP is now stable enough for a first formal release. It is still very early days for PIPP and up until now only a few test users have had access to the program.

  • Save processed frames as a sequence of bitmap (.bmp) images ready for stacking.
  • Split colour frames into R, G and B frames.
  • Keep only the number of best quality frames specified by the user.
  • Estimate the quality of each frame and reorder the processed frames in order of quality.
  • Crop each frame around the centred planet.
  • Check for and discard overexposed frames.
  • Check each frame contains a planet that is completely on the image and discard any frames that do not.
  • Debayer raw frames from colour cameras to produce colour frames.
  • Load a sequence of images from either AVI video files or bitmap image files.
  • Normally the green lines are quite short if it is a good stable video, but even good videos are showing massive long lines.ĥ.PIPP is a simple command-line program that I wrote to help with pre-processing planetary images. I then hit "Limit" which adds little green lines to all the align points, the files I am having problems with seem to go nuts at this stage. I normally have limit setup set at 65% of best frames.Ĥ. I let the program select align points as I am not sure whether more or less points is better. From the "Go to Frame" option at the bottom of the screen, scroll through the frames looking to the clearest or sharpest frame I can find then hit set align points. From select menu, pick the video I want to processĢ.

The videos are the best I have ever done but when I process them in Registax 6, after the stacking step, I just end up with a white screen!ġ. I have had an issue crop up while attempting to process AVIs from my new Point Grey Chamelon 3 camera. I dabble in a little solar imaging from time to time.
